My one month detox plan lasted exactly 2 days. The reason?Because I saw this recipe for hot chocolate and have been drinking it twice a day for the last 3 days……
Recipe (adapted from Jamie Oliver):
Ingredients (recipe makes 3 generous helpings):
2 tablespoons horlicks
2 tablespoons cornflour
2 tablespoons icing sugar
4 tablespoons good quality cocoa powder
100g good quality dark chocolate, grated (I used Green and Black’s maya gold)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
2 pints (1litre) full fat milk
150ml double cream
- Mix all the dry ingredients together
- Warm the milk and cream in a deep saucepan, over a low heat
- Whisk in the dry ingredients into the saucepan
- Once the mixture starts to thicken, it is ready for drinking.
Hint: The dry mix keeps really well in an airtight container (e.g. a Chocolat Charbonnel hot chocolate tin) – meaning that it can be stored away for those rainy days.
Suggestion: Adding marshmallows and/or waffles with the chocolate makes for an awesome dessert!
